Mr. Van de Verg served as General Counsel for Annapolis-based CoreTel Communications, Inc. for nineteen years (1999-2017), assisting with the growth and maturation of the home-grown Maryland startup into a group of affiliated companies to include regional competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) and wholesale voice-over-Internet protocol (VOIP) service provider affiliates operating in multiple states along the mid-Atlantic seaboard. As in-house counsel, Mr. Van de Verg directed and in many cases directly participated in a wide variety of legal tasks and projects including arbitration, contracting, corporate formation and structuring, financing, legislative affairs, litigation, mediation, negotiation and regulatory compliance.
Prior to his tenure with CoreTel, Mr. Van de Verg worked as a solo-practitioner with an office in Baltimore, Maryland and serving local technology-based startups, including a Severna Park -based Internet service provider.
Mr. Van de Verg received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland Law School, Baltimore, Maryland in May, 1996 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December, 1996. He graduated from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree, with Distinction, in History, in May, 1993.
